The experience is available throughout the year, with opening dates varying according to the season. The latest schedule can be found on the Booking page. During school holidays, Vercors en Lumières is open almost every day. Outside holiday periods, the trail is generally open on weekends only.

EDITION: La quête du sabot de Vénus (The Quest for the Lady’s Slipper)

This summer, just a few minutes from Villard-de-Lans, the Bois Barbu forest lights up each evening to offer you a truly unique experience in the heart of nature.

VERCORS EN LUMIÈRES is an immersive night-time trail that takes you deep into the forest, combining sound, light, and storytelling. As darkness falls, follow Papito and his granddaughter along a marked and illuminated path, and explore the landscapes, wildlife and stories that shape the soul of the Vercors. Blending wonder with knowledge, each stop along the way reveals a different aspect of this mountain region, from its geology and wildlife to its ancient forests and the memory of its people.

ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE

🗺️ The trail stretches over 1.2 km through the forest, with some elevation and one steeper uphill section.

⌛ The experience lasts around one hour and takes place entirely outdoors, in the heart of the forest at night.

👟 To fully enjoy the experience, comfortable closed shoes suitable for walking are essential.

🧣 Bois Barbu can be particularly cold, damp or slippery depending on the weather. Please dress accordingly to stay warm and dry throughout the walk.

❌ Pushchairs are not permitted on the trail. You may leave them at the welcome area and use a baby carrier for young children.

❌ The trail is unfortunately not accessible for visitors with reduced mobility. It takes place on a natural, unpaved forest path with uneven ground and a relatively steep uphill section, which makes it difficult to navigate.

🔇 Please respect the tranquillity of nearby residents by switching off your engine, turning off your headlights and keeping noise to a minimum when arriving and leaving.

WINTER ❄️
Very warm and waterproof clothing is recommended: warm jacket, hat, gloves and scarf. The path may be wet or slippery. Walking sticks are allowed.

SUMMER 🌞
Evenings can be cool at altitude. A warm layer and a waterproof jacket are recommended in case of light rain.
