FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Vercors en Lumières is an immersive night-time walk through nature. Equipped with an open-ear audio headset, you’ll follow a lit trail deep in the forest of Bois Barbu, just minutes from Villard-de-Lans. As you walk, a story unfolds: that of a grandfather and his granddaughter as they explore the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Vercors. The story is whispered in your ear and perfectly synchronised with discreet visual effects, video projections and lighting. Each stop reveals a new facet of the plateau (its wildlife, plant life, geology and wartime history) for a poetic and respectful sensory experience.
The trail is about 1.2 km long. The walk takes around 1 hour, but you’re free to go at your own pace. Our team will be present throughout to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Your ticket gives you access to the full immersive experience and includes an audio headset (available in French or English).
The trail takes place entirely outdoors in the forest, on a natural forest path with some elevation and incline. Comfortable closed shoes suitable for walking are essential. Temperatures drop quickly in the mountains after sunset, especially in autumn and winter, and can remain cool even in summer. We recommend very warm and waterproof clothing in winter, and an extra warm layer in any season. For young children, a baby carrier is advised as pushchairs are not suitable for the terrain.
By purchasing your ticket, you confirm that you are able to complete the trail with full awareness of the conditions and accept the minimal risks associated with an outdoor walking activity.
WINTER ❄️
Warm and waterproof jacket, hat, gloves and scarf. The path may be wet or slippery depending on the weather. Good walking shoes are essential. Walking sticks are allowed.
SUMMER 🌞
A warm layer and suitable walking shoes. Even in good weather, evenings can be cool at altitude.
We strongly recommend booking online before coming. The booking calendar is updated in real time and allows you to check whether the trail is open that evening, which helps avoid unnecessary travel.
It is still possible to buy tickets on site, subject to availability and card payment only. Booking online remains the best way to secure your time slot.
The visit goes ahead in light or moderate rain as well as in snowfall. Once in the forest, the trees provide partial shelter, but it is important to wear clothing suitable for the evening conditions. Temperatures can drop significantly after sunset, even without snow.

In the event of dangerous weather conditions such as thunderstorms, strong winds, snowstorms or icy ground, the experience may be cancelled for safety reasons. If this happens, visitors will receive an email and or text message with instructions on how to reschedule their visit.
WINTER ❄️
The trail remains open in case of snow. Please wear very warm and waterproof clothing, as temperatures can be low and the path may be wet or slippery depending on the conditions. In winter, the roads leading to Bois Barbu are cleared regularly by the local council and are generally accessible, provided your vehicle is properly equipped for mountain driving.

The experience is designed for all audiences, young and old, and is particularly well suitable for families with children. Admission is free for children aged 5 and under.
However, due to the nature of the terrain, the trail is not accessible for strollers. For very young children who cannot walk the full distance, a baby carrier is strongly recommended.
For visitors who have difficulty walking or maintaining balance, the path may be uncomfortable. The experience takes place entirely outdoors on a natural forest trail, unpaved and with uneven ground. This makes it challenging for visitors with reduced mobility and not accessible for wheelchair users. Walking sticks are allowed and may be helpful for those who would like additional support.
No need to print i, you can simply present your ticket on your smartphone.

Vercors en Lumières was designed with great care for the forest environment and local wildlife. The experience follows a sustainable and responsible approach. Each visitor is equipped with open-ear headphones, allowing for an immersive experience without loudspeakers and without disturbing nocturnal wildlife.
Lighting is low-energy, powered largely by solar energy, and carefully directed to minimise light pollution. Installations are motion-activated and automatically shut off at the end of the evening, significantly reducing energy consumption.
This night walk was carefully planned to minimise disturbance to wildlife. It follows paths already frequented during the day, including parts of the Bois Barbu fitness trail, avoiding the creation of new disturbance zones.
No loudspeakers are used, visitors wear open-ear headphones, ensuring that no sound is broadcast into the forest.
Lighting is soft and directional, activated only when visitors pass by. This preserves natural darkness outside of visiting hours. Some scenic elements are placed above ground for specific visual effects, but their use remains limited and temporary.
The forest at night is a different world, both mysterious and delicate. The trail offers a poetic and educational experience, encouraging visitors to listen, observe, and better understand nature.
Far from being a loud or flashy show, it is a gentle and contemplative walk that invites you to slow down. The narrative fosters a sense of wonder and encourages respect for the richness of the forest. This nighttime format offers a unique connection to nature: through awe and immersion.
The experience takes place within a limited time window, in the three hours following sunset, in order to respect the forest’s natural nocturnal rhythm.
